On July 31, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order reestablishing the Presidential Fitness Test. A fixture in Physical Education for decades, this program was discontinued during the 2012-2013 school year under President Obama.
Bringing the Presidential Fitness Test back has sparked strong reactions across the education community. While this news has raised many questions as the new school year begins, one thing is clear: the program’s return places a much needed spotlight on the importance of Physical Education.
